Do you feel annoyed when writing?
I don't think I've ever met a writer who honestly answered that question!
Be it Facebook, Twitter, read news, see some web-comms, reply to emails, order this Amazon book that you have forgotten.
The good news is that you can do many things to concentrate on writing.
I will discuss my suggestions in three different categories to help you determine the area that you feel is most comfortable (or in the area where the simplest change is now). They are:
How to make your writing environment work for you
What must be done before writing?
What should be done when writing?
I also added a bonus for something you can do after writing so that you can focus on setting the steps step by step.
How to make your writing environment work for you
1: 》Get out of the house
If you usually write at home, write in a local cafe (or library, etc.). This eliminates many possible abductions ... and scene changes make it easier to create.
Some of my best, most focused, written lyrics occur when I leave the hotel in the morning, at night and in the morning. There is no laundry, no dishes, no children, no TV and wireless phones do not work on my sick laptop. I can write for hours!
Even if you cannot escape for a long time, an hour in the cafeteria may be enough to overcome the creative block you are fighting.
2: 》Get rid of compulsive noise
When I was in the writing area, I adjusted almost everything (including my suffering husband). However, entering this area may be difficult initially if there is a very disturbing disorder.
"Noise" is usually children who play / fight / sing at the top of their lungs. It may sound too familiar to you - or the sound you want to block is near you, or your roommate is watching the repetition of your friends. Whatever the noise, headphones will help you (I like it because it's cheap and acts as an earplug to reduce external noise).
That depends on what you will hear: Some writers focus on the surrounding noise from sites like Noisli.com. besides film soundtracks; Others choose certain artists, albums or even songs that match the mood of their work. Do what works for you.
3: 》Sit on a table or table
If you usually write while sitting on the couch, or even in bed, try instead of sitting on a table or table - even if it means cleaning the room or rearranging the room. You can see that this is a big difference in concentration.
Apart from making you feel more like a "workspace," sitting at a table or table might be better for your body position than hugging a laptop in your lap or lying on your knees with your laptop. (If you still want to stay on the couch or bed, you might want to see something like a laptop bed so you can write there more easily.)
What must be done before writing?
4: 》Make a plan
Whatever you write, you need a plan. These may be a few words written on a sticky note, or maybe an oral document that describes your entire book. Whatever your plan is, it is an important tool that keeps you on the road and focused.
If you start writing without a plan, it's too easy to lose focus. You don't know where you are going - and once you reach the natural end of a thought, you might be bothered by something not related to your writing.
5》the trial
What do you want to achieve when writing? For example, if you write a post on a blog, you might just want to work on your plan, but if you work on a part of an older project, you might need to find a specific goal.
For example, if you are writing a novel, you can "write the first 1000 words in chapter 10" or "write a scene with Joe in front of Duane".
If you find that setting goals is scary or disgusting and useless, you might want to set and stretch "minimum goals". This can "write 200 words" and "write 1000 words". As a direct destination. "Even if you only get a minimum, you can look after the back.
6:》 Determine how long you have to concentrate
You don't have to work with 100% focus for all your writing sessions. You can focus for 25 minutes and then stop for 5 minutes. (This special time interval is part of the Pomodoro technique, which might be useful.) Set a timer to keep you up to date as you type.
As long as the timer works, just tap on your task - you won't be able to retrieve e-mail, register with Facebook, and so on. You may feel very heavy at first glance, but you will immediately feel more natural.
If you are dealing with old kidnapping habits, you may want to use applications such as Freedom.to to help you - you can block certain websites or even the entire Internet for a certain period of time.
What should be done when writing?
7: 》Prepare a "Distractions" notebook
A simple tool that I find very useful is a notebook, diary or even a piece of paper where I can record scatter. This is often the thing I have to remember (the book "Order Le Guin" is currently on my list, because when I wrote this post, it occurred to me that there was a group of science fiction books that I did attending meetings in a few weeks ...)
However, you can use the list of distractions not only to "make" objects, but also for the impulses that are displayed. Something like "See what's new on xkcd" or "See the Next Season of Lucifer" is also on your list! After you take a break, you can go to some of these kidnappings without guilt.
8: 》Don't stop seeing things
How often do you write posts on a blog (or a novel scene or chapter of your book) - just to find out that you need to find a name, fact, or link?
And how often do you stop looking ... and then spend the next half hour on the rabbit track?
I do that more often than I want to admit! But as much as possible, I try not to see things when writing. Instead, in my design, I attach [notes to myself] in parentheses so that I can return and then enter the name / fact / link / etc.
The following is an example of a draft of this publication:
9: 》Don't edit when writing
I know that you've heard it, but this is a recurring tip: Don't edit it when typing.
Can I still correct typos or restart the wrong phrase? Certain. (Although some "non-editing" purists disagree with me!) However, if you draw a paragraph, change three sentences, make a new paragraph, cut everything you write so far, and start again ... They won't go away
If you change your mind about something you are writing about, just open the part with italics you don't know. Look at what you think about change (for example, "Remove John from this scene") and then pretend that you have made that change.
That way you won't lose momentum - and you won't waste time editing something that you can change later.

10:》 Write what your writing session is
If you have never tried writing a journal, do it. You may have documents on your computer where you can record, how you got there, you can save notes in your journal, you can use a notebook ... whatever works for you.
Spend one or two minutes each time you complete a writing session to mark what works and what isn't. For example, "it started well, but it was halfway when he replied to an email from Jenny" or "it took years to continue, but after a few paragraphs, it really went into the flow."
If you keep your journal for several weeks, you will find that you can see the pattern - and know what works (and doesn't) work for you.
All writers can concentrate, and interference is often a bad habit. How can you make your next writing session great? Choose ideas - or more! - from the list above and let us know in your comments how to join.
